THE Severn Valley Railway’s upcoming Spring Diesel Festival will now feature two Class 70 freight locomotives appearing in markedly different liveries.
The heritage line has announced that Colas have agreed to send one of their Class 70s to appear at the event from May 16 to 19 May, alongside the Freightliner Class 70 that was announced last month.
SVR’s managing director Jonathan ‘Gus’ Dunster said: “The Colas diesels carry a striking yellow, black and orange livery which will present a strong contrast with the corporate green and yellow livery of the Freightliner Class 70.
"It’s going to be a highly unusual sight to have both of these at our event.
“The Severn Valley Railway is extremely fortunate to have such close links with main line operators, and thanks to their support, the line-up for our first major diesel enthusiast event of 2024 is going from strength to strength.”
As well as the pair of Class 70s, the Spring Diesel Festival will also feature a Class 73 and 69009 from GB Railfreight, a Class 59, 37409 ‘Loch Awe’, Class 46 D182 and members of the SVR’s home fleet.
