The county council has issued a reminder about a three-month road closure set to start a week tomorrow (Monday, February 19).

Worcestershire County Council has warned drivers to remember that A448 towards Kidderminster at Chaddesley Corbett will be closed for up to three months for a major new water main installation from Severn Trent.

The work on the road originally started in May 2023 but had to be abandoned due to a road worker being seriously injured after getting hit by a vehicle.

A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council said: "A448 at Chaddesley Corbett is closed on Monday, February 19 for up to 3 months for major new water main installation by Severn Trent. Follow the signed diversions."

The scheme will involve the closure of a section of the busy carriageway, with a traffic diversion in place along necessary alternative A-roads during the 12-week project.

A public drop-in session will take tomorrow (Monday, February 12) at Chaddesley Corbett village hall when Severn Trent staff will be on hand to answer questions from the public.

Paul Hughes, community communications officer at Severn Trent, said teams would work to get the scheme completed as quickly as possible.

He added: "We do understand the frustration which can be caused by these kind of roadworks and diversions, which are used to protect our workers and the public as we carry out essential mains replacement.

"The Chaddesley Corbett works are very important as they will improve the water supply to households in the surrounding area, who have suffered issues in the past.

“But we do want to apologise in advance for disruption caused.”
