COMMUNITY Housing has apologised after a “disgusting” dog waste bin was left overflowing with poo.

The bin is located at Mitton Walk in Stourport on land which belongs to the Wyre Forest housing association, with the issue causing “distress” to residents and dog walkers.

Stourport resident Stephanie Bradley, who complained to the association, said:  "It's disgusting. That's an awful lot of poo.

"It would have been really bad if it was summer and it was getting like that”.

Community housing said it was previously “not aware” of the installation of the dog waste bin on Mitton Walk and was not scheduled on cleaning rounds. The bin has now been emptied and added to the housing association's cleaning schedule.

Addressing the issue on Facebook, Community Housing said: “Thank you to everyone who has contacted us about the bin on Mitton Walk and we are sorry that it has taken longer than expected to resolve the issue.

“Since the initial enquiry, we have tried to find out who is responsible for emptying the bin as it doesn't fall under the responsibility of Wyre Forest District Council but it isn't on our cleaning schedule either.

“However, as the bin is on land belonging to Community Housing and the obvious distress it is causing to local residents and dog walkers, a decision has been taken to empty the bin and add it to our cleaning schedule”.

They thanked residents in Stourport for making them aware of the issue.
