AMBITIOUS plans have been announced to transform the old M&Co store in Stourport into a health and wellbeing centre featuring a beauty salon, coffee shop and gym.

The Lombard Street site has been purchased by Lindsey Watson, who runs the Elle Jay Aesthetics skincare service next door.

The 55-year-old says she has huge plans for the site, which was previously home to a cinema, and hopes it will be a "positive step forward" for the town.

She said: “We intend to call it The Haven as a tribute to the past cinema.

“Over the next few months, there will be alterations done to create a private GP surgery and medical aesthetics clinic.

“We will be doing similar treatments as we do already next door, e.g. minor surgery, blood testing, facial aesthetics, laser treatments, body sculpting, hair restoration and more.

“We will also have at least three general practitioners available for both telephone consultations and face-to-face appointments”.

She also plans to introduce a hairdressers', a beauty salon, a coffee shop and a crèche downstairs.

Upstairs there will be a gym, a yoga and Pilates studio with aerial bungees, a large spa area and changing rooms.

The old cinema frontage is set to also be restored to its original design. She also plans to remove the the old booking office on the pavement on Lickhill Road subject to planning permission.

Lindsey added: "This project is a positive step forward for the town, making use of a redundant building. It will create new jobs and provide new facilities for the area.

“I’m very excited. It’s a big goal but I aim to get there".
