A KIDDERMINSTER chip shop has been handed a new food hygiene rating after an inspection earlier this month.

Friends Fish Bar, a takeaway at Comberton Hill was given the maximum score of five out of five after the assessment on November 21, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of Wyre Forest's 89 takeaways with ratings, 42 have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.

The takeaway has a score of 4.4 out of five on Google, with more than 200 reviews being given.

The ratings have been published on the Food Standards Agency’s website which rates businesses from zero to five so customers can make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food.

A rating of five means hygiene standards are very good, four means hygiene standards are good, three means hygiene standards are generally satisfactory, two means some improvement is necessary, a rating of one means major improvement is necessary and a rating of zero means urgent improvement is required.

People can see the results of all food hygiene inspections on the national ratings.food.gov.uk website.
