Inquest into deaths of tragic Bewdley crash victims set to begin

The victims were formally identified as Gemma Hobbins, aged 32, her four-year-old son Keegan Fettis, and Cody Smith, aged 28, after the fatal crash which happened near Bewdley in Spring this year. 

A blue Ford Focus and a black Audi A7 collided on the A456 near to the Duke William public house in Callow Hill on Wednesday, May 10.

Police later established that two other vehicles were also involved, a silver Volkswagen Golf and a black Vauxhall Vectra.

Sadly, when emergency services arrived at the scene of the collision it quickly became apparent that the two adults and child who were in the Ford Focus could not be saved and it was confirmed they died at the scene.

Police confirmed the victims were all from the Kidderminster/Stourport area. 

In a statement following the tragic incident, West Mercia Police said: "Gemma’s family said they wanted to thank the emergency services and those that tried to help.

"They said she was much loved by all the family. About Keegan, they said they were completely devastated, struggled to find any words to express their grief but they are completely devastated.

"Cody’s family said she will be missed so much by all who loved her including her father, sister, nieces and nephews along with all the rest of the family. They said she was the life of the party".

Four arrests were made at the time, with the men later being bailed.

The inquest is scheduled to take place over two days at Worcestershire Coroner's Court.
