HUNDREDS flocked to the annual Kidderminster Beer and Cider Festival on its opening day yesterday (November 9).

The annual festival is being held at a brand new location - Kidderminster Harriers Social and Supporters Club.

The number of attendees was above 250 people, which is a par with first day numbers when the Festival was previously held at Kidderminster Town Hall.

The festival was officially opened by the Mayor of Kidderminster, Darren Chambers, with guest Councillors Mike Freeman, Mayor of Stourport, plus Kevin Gale, Rose Bishop and Doug Hine also present.

Wyre Forest CAMRA Chair, Rob Budworth, was very pleased with how Thursday went.

He said: "The Harriers Social Club is a great venue for an event the size of ours.

"The numbers of people attending fit comfortably in this brilliant hall.  The 42 beers, 15 ciders, gin, wine and low-alcohol offerings are going down a treat. We're now well into the swing of Friday, day 2."

The festival ends on Saturday evening (November 11), when the beers usually are nearly all consumed.

People can still attend the festival, buying tickets on the door for a price that includes a small entrance fee, tokens for drinks and a deposit for the Festival glass.
