WYRE Forest MP Mark Garnier has revealed that no new asylum seekers will be admitted to the Gainsborough House Hotel in Kidderminster.
Mr Garnier has said that the hotel is to be “stood down” as a site for the Home Office to house people seeking asylum.
The MP also confirmed the Heath Hotel, near Bewdley, will continue to house asylum seekers.
Discussing the issue of immigration in his latest Shuttle column, Mr Garnier said: “The Gainsborough Hotel, on Bewdley Hill in Kidderminster, is to be stood down and no new asylum seekers will be admitted.
“It is expected the last one to leave will be in January. Meanwhile, the old Heath hotel, outside Bewdley, will continue”.
Earlier this week, immigration minister Robert Jenrick announced the closure of several asylum hotels.
In March 2022, Wyre Forest District Council first announced the Gainsborough House Hotel on Bewdley Hill would be used by the Home Office to house asylum seekers.
