A KIDDERMINSTER curry house is making a name for itself as one of the best in the UK after winning a national award.
Spennells Tandoori, established more than 25 years ago, won the 'Best Takeaway' category at the Curry Life Awards 2023, held at a gala ceremony in London’s West End.
Owner Tazul Islam said: “After all this time, our hard work has been recognised with an award, which feels great.
"We’re really pleased to have been voted for and to be part of this fantastic event celebrating Indian cuisine.”
The Curry Life Awards 2023, which took place on October 15, celebrated the elite in the UK's multi-billion-pound curry industry.
Tazul Islam started the family business with his brother, Modossir Islam, transforming an empty shop at Warbler Place into a takeaway for the area.
Over time, the takeaway has been recognised for its high standards, great food and consistent 5-star health and safety ratings.
Tazul's son, Shekul, is now planning to follow in his father’s footsteps.
After graduating in business management, he’s now working in front of house and plans to work his way up to management level.
The 14th edition of the Awards, which took place at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square, also highlighted the curry industry's tenacity, which has survived despite the pandemic and cost of living crisis.
