BEWDLEY Bridge has been reopened for traffic after works were carried out by Severn Trent Water.

It was closed whilst the company relocated a water main and reopened today (Sunday, September 10). The work, which started on August 29, has been completed a week ahead of schedule.

The work was carried out ahead of the main construction phase to install new flood defences on Beales Corner, which is set to start next month.

Construction work on the scheme is expected to take approximately 18 months to two years to complete and Kidderminster Road will be reduced to one carriageway, according to the Environment Agency.
